What Does GG4 Mean? 7 Questions About Original Glue

· BUDDHA BROS

GG4, Original Glue and Gorilla Glue #4 appear in accounts of the same named cultivar. These seven answers explain that connection, attribute the breeder’s historical claims and separate a variety’s name from measurements of an individual sample.

What does GG4 mean, and is it the same as Original Glue?

GG4 is a shortened name associated with Gorilla Glue #4. GG Strains’ own published description identifies Original Glue as GG4 and explicitly connects it with the former Gorilla Glue #4 name. In that account, these are names for the same cultivar, rather than three separate varieties.

Who is credited with creating GG4?

GG Strains credits its founders Joesy Whales and Lone Watty as the breeders. This attribution comes from the company’s published account. It is useful to distinguish that documented claim from later retellings that add details without identifying their evidence.

What are GG4’s reported parent strains?

The breeder lists Chem’s Sister, Sour Dubb and Chocolate Diesel. That is the reported ancestry used here. A breeder’s lineage description is a historical claim; citing it does not amount to independently reconstructing the original cross through genetic testing.

Is GG4 an indica, a sativa or a hybrid?

The breeder describes Original Glue as an indica-dominant hybrid. Treat that as its published classification. Research on cannabis labels shows that indica and sativa designations do not neatly describe overall genetic relationships, so a category should not be read as a precise genetic measurement.

Are GG1 and GG5 other names for GG4?

GG Strains distinguishes them: GG1 is called Sister Glue, GG5 is called New Glue, and GG4 is called Original Glue. The company describes Sister Glue and New Glue as separate releases. Sharing the Glue family of names does not make these labels interchangeable.

Does the number 4 mean GG4 contains 4% THC?

No. In the breeder’s description, GG4 identifies the cultivar; THC information is listed separately. A number in a variety’s name is not a laboratory measurement. More broadly, chemical research finds substantial diversity among commercially labelled cannabis samples, so a name cannot supply a particular sample’s measured concentration.

Does every sample called GG4 have the same chemistry?

The cited large-scale chemical study does not establish that guarantee. It found that some commercial strain names were more chemically consistent than others, while naming practices did not reliably capture all the observed chemical diversity. The finding concerns chemistry across the dataset; it does not authenticate every sample labelled GG4 or predict an individual’s experience.
